Hopital St. Louis

The clinic St Louis was founded on the premises of a former agriculture school in 1936, as the first surgical clinic in the country. In 1946 the clinic was taken over by the commune of Ettelbruck and used as a nursing home. In 1963 the home moved into new facilities and little by little, more and more specialized medical departments were added and the number of the beds was doubled. On the 24th of October 2003 the new Hôpital St Louis was opened directly beside the old clinic. The new hospital centre extends over an area of 32,000 m² and is equipped with the most modern infrastructure.

To create a relaxed atmosphere and arrange the daily routine as enjoyable as possible, the clinic has decided against monotonous corridors and a boring numeration of stations. Therefore, seven landscape pictures symbolize the seven floors. Pictures of the sea and dunes, a riverside scene, fields, a forest, and hills up to a mountain top, direct patients and visitors through the corridors.

The kitchen is on the ground floor of the building. The patient orientated menus cover all ranges of nutrition and thereby contribute decisively to their recovery. With its Eloma combi steamers the kitchen, like the whole house, is equipped with the most modern technology. Because nearly 300 patients eat at the same time, the preparation of the meals must be very fast. Therefore, a lot of the offered food is prepared and served in the Cook&Chill process. In addition to the patients the clinic staff is also provided with meals. All dishes for the staff cafeteria are freshly prepared. Patients and staff are delighted with the wide range and the great quality of food offered. This compliment proves that the Eloma combi steamers are proficient with the preparation of fresh food as well as regeneration.
